My First Encounter With Christmas!

New England located in the North East of United States mainly consists of five states –

  1. Maine
  2. New Hampshire
  3. Vermont
  4. Massachusetts
  5. Rhode Island
  6. Connecticut

I am currently located near Boston, capital of Massachusetts. Since this state falls in a Temperate Zone, generally 4 seasons are recognized.

  • Spring
  • Summer
  • Autumn (fall)
  • Winter

January month falls in the winter season, the season with shortest days and lowest temperatures mostly experiencing snow and ice! The weather here is so unpredictable that the first thing you find people doing; before the day starts is - to read the weather forecast!!

This is my first winter in America and I have learnt many new things!

What was most eye-catchy, exciting and enjoyable for me was the way people celebrate the Christmas festival and the holidays!!

I did hear a lot about Snowman, Santa, reindeers, Christmas trees but never knew how they were related to the festival.

  • Snowman: A Human like snow sculpture which is considered to be the symbol of Christmas and winter
  • Santa Claus: Mythical figure described as bringing gifts on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day or on the feast day
  • Reindeer: Reindeers help Santa to pull his Sleigh to deliver the Gifts to the Children
  • Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
    Had a very shiny nose,
And if you ever saw it,
You could even say it glows”
  • Christmas Tree: Evergreen Coniferous Tree traditionally associated with Christmas Celebrations.
  • Snowflakes: Ice Crystals which form while falling down from a cloud

There were Snowmen and Santa’s on the streets prepared by townsfolk. The reindeers looked real and Christmas trees were so well decorated with lights and colorful ornaments in stores and houses.

I just happened to paint them all together and felt like being a part of a Live Christmas Extravaganza!!
